They gave me an injection to numb the tooth area and part of the tongue and then prised out the tooth. They had to cut part of the gums. I was awake the whole time, eyes wide open. It does not pain only caused discomfort because you know what's going on and feel and hear the crunching sound the tool makes against your tooth.
References :
Whether they are partially grown out of fully grown out, the techinque is the same for removal. As far as anesthesia, you can get I.V. sedation which will make you numb to the world and cause you not to remember anything of the procedure (if they give you enough sedation) without the need for them putting a tube down your throat and having them breath for you via a machine. When I had mine out, I remember seeing them put the sedation into my I.V., and then the next thing I remember is waking up in the waiting room (I had actually already been awake and talking for 20 minutes, but that's the first thing I remember!) Good stuff!!!
References :
if u are nervus while doing dental treatment then u can ask ur dentist to give u iv sedation and put u to sleep. if u just want to feel relaxed u can only ask for laughting gas. but will not put u to sleep. either way u will get numb and u will only feel pressure when they remove the teeth.
References :
12 years dentist

A surgical orthodontist does this and yes they will most likely put you to sleep. They pretty much cut the gum and extract the tooth. My husband and friend hand it done and both said the worst part was afterwards when they could eat again because stuff gets stuck in the wounds. Oh and the drooling is pretty bad also. They never really complained about pain.
References :
I got an IV and some drugs, the IV going in was worse than the teeth coming out. I wasnt asleep but was pretty far out of it and didnt feel a thing. I do remember listening to them talk but thats the only reason I knew I wasnt completley out.
